1. Bradgate Park

If you live in and around the county of Leicestershire you will have visited Bradgate Park. One of my most memorable proposals was here and I've also done many engagement photo shoots here too. The backdrop is stunning and there's so many different routes and scenes to choose from. Being in nature really makes everything much more natural and relaxed

2. Belvoir Castle

A grand location that's nothing short of epic. Situated on the border of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, it is the ancestral seats for the Dukes of Rutland for over a thousand years and the grounds are glorious. Such a beautiful setting and after your photography you could treat yourselves to an afternoon tea.

3. Your Favourite Place

This is of course personal to you both. It might be a park or outdoor location you often visit or a hotel or restaurant you enjoy regularly. If its a private location, you might also like chat to the owner or manager and include them in on the secret.

4. Ragdale Hall

Set in beautiful grounds in North East Leicestershire, Ragdale Hall is a dedicated spa hotel. If you didn't want a full on spa day or break you can simply book an afternoon or twilight experience, treat your partner to a luxurious treatment before popping the question and then enjoy a quiet romantic dinner together

5. Kilworth House

Now if you fancy going over the top romantic you could go all out Pride & Prejudice with Kilworth House. Set in beautiful grounds in the heart of rural Leicestershire, it's the kind of place that makes you want to dress up, wander through the grounds and pretend you're in a period drama for the afternoon. There are plenty of lovely spots to take a stroll before finding somewhere quiet to pop the question. And once you've said the all-important 'yes', you can carry on the celebrations with a lovely meal or drinks together.

6. Beacon Hill Country Park

For something a little more rugged and dramatic, Beacon Hill offers some of the most spectacular views across Leicestershire. You could take a walk up to one of the viewpoints and find a quiet moment to ask the question, followed by some relaxed photographs together while you're there. It's particularly lovely if you both enjoy being outdoors.

7. Hambleton Hall

If you want to make a real occasion of it, Hambleton Hall is about as romantic and luxurious as it gets. Perched above Rutland Water, this beautiful country house has elegant gardens, stunning views and a rather special restaurant that has held a Michelin star for decades.

Oh what to do, now that is a question! I've heard some beautiful proposal stories but honestly, it comes down to what is meaningful to you and what you think your partner would love. After all, you know them better than anyone. It might be that it is simply a beautiful location and a simple question, 'will you....' The love you share is what gets you the yes, not what you do. Having said that, here are some of my favourites...

A farmer asked his girlfriend to marry him by putting the ring amongst the chickens and asked her to go out and fetch the eggs.

A couple visited their favourite beach together and he buried the ring in the sand castles he was building. Yes, I agree, that's pretty daring but he kept it in the box and said that he'd lost the car keys and asked her to help him look.

Their first date was walking through Bradgate Park and so it seemed romantic to get down on one knee there.

She loved dogs more than anything and so he attached the ring to the dog collar. It took her a while to find it but eventually on their walk out she did.

Loving champagne so much, he dropped the ring in the bottom of the glass. He said she always drank bubbly so quickly and that evening it seemed to just take forever.
